1995 Eagle Talon Question.?

My name is John and I am 16 years old. I am looking for a car to buy and work on as a hobby. I found an 1995 Eagle Talon with 125,000 miles on it. It is a 4 cylinder engine and its clutch is in near perfect condition. There is a little rust on it but I was planning on getting body work and a paint job for it. It is selling for 3,000 but I can probably get it for 2,000. I know it has alot of miles but I want a cheap car that has alot of kits available for it and has a user-friendly engine. I also like the stick shift part of it. I'm not looking to make it very fast I want to do more cosmetic work than anything else. So anyways, do you think that is a good car to get for that price? If not tell me why. Any other suggestions for a cheap car to sup up would be appreciated.
