Does anyone feel Van der Sloot is being handled unjustly(according to US law)?

I know, I think I am the only one. However, I am an American so when a country has guilty until proven innocent, the prosecutor picking the lawyer, no lawyer taking the case bc their life is in jeopardy for real...as well as the dna evidence not being taken before the body was buried, obviously doctored video footage of the hotel, and well known suspect who re-killed someone with on the exact anniversary of something he was never been able to be connected to? Suspicious? I guess it's just me.
